History of H&S Heat Treating
1969
H&S Heat Treating, a small commercial heat treating operation in Welland Ontario, was purchased and became part of Phil Dennis Enterprises Ltd in April 1969.
Services included normalizing, annealing, stress relieving, quench and temper plus a line of salt baths devoted to steel treating.
The customer base was localized to the Niagara Region and represented by industries such as closed die forge shops, foundries agricultural equipment and automotive manufacturing plants
1975
In a few short years H&S outgrew it's Welland facility and commenced relocation to Port Robinson, which is now the site of our main operations and head office.
Services were expanded and upgraded to meet ever increasing metallurgical and guolity demands of rapidly expanding manufacturing industries in Eastern Canada and North Eastern USA.
H&S has grown with the customers it served and in some cases took over their “in-house” heat treating requirements completely.
1990
1990 marked a significant year for H&S Heat Treating. A joint-venture project between H&S and Nitrex Metals Inc (#50 on Canada’s top 100 fastest-growing companies) resulted in the creation of new company, Nitrex Metal Technologies Inc (NMT). NMT specializes in surface treating, focusing mostly on nitriding using the patented Nitrex tehnology.
It began in a small corner of H&S facilities, but was moved to its own plant in Burlington in 1993 as demand for its services grew exponentially. It has since grown ten-fold, and is rapidly becoming one of the largest nitriding service providers in North America, with plants in Burlington (Ontario), Edmonton (Alberta), Erie (Pennsylvania), and Round Rock (Texas).
1999
1999 was the year that H&S Heat Treating achieved its QS9000 and ISO9002 Registration. H&S has a long-standing history of high quality, having previously operated under requirements such as AMS 2750, CSA Z299 and MIL-H-6875. Through rigid testing, inspection procedures and SPC techniques are employed throughout H&S operations. This ensures adherence to customer specifications and consistently high levels of product quality and performance were ensured. H&S is currently certified to both ISO 9001:2008, and ISO/TS 16949:2009.
Since 1999 H&S continued to add capacity and automation to meet the ongoing demanding needs of it's customers. H&S’s Port Robinson facility has grown to well over 100,000 square feet and continues to grow each and every year.
